Frank E. Vandervort, JD, is Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Michigan Law School where he teaches in the Child Advocacy and Juvenile Justice Clinics. He has practiced child protection law for more than a quarter century. His research interests include child protection, juvenile justice and interdisciplinary practice.
Professor Vandervort is the Immediate Past President of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children and is the Chair of the organization’s Amicus Committee.
He is the author of a book chapter, “The Rights of Fetuses and Young Children,” which appeared in Principles and Practice in Addictions and the Law (ed. Norman S. Miller)(2010). He is the co-author of “A Liberal Dilemma: Respecting Autonomy While Also Protecting Inchoate Children from Prenatal Substance Abuse,” which appeared in the William & Mary Bill of Rights Journal in 2016. He is also a co-author of the book “Seeking Justice in Child Sexual Abuse: Shifting Burdens and Sharing Responsibilities.”
